PM Modi Egypt Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Egypt’s highest state honor ‘Order of Nile’. The award was bestowed upon PM Modi by the Egyptian President Fatah al-Sisi. This is the 13th instance of a nation conferring highest state honor to PM Modi. Earlier, PM Modi and President Sisi engaged in bilateral talks over cooperation in major sectors.
What is Order of the Nile?
Order of Nile or Kiladat El Nil in Arabic was instituted in 1915 by Egyptian monarch. After Egypt became a Republic in 1973, the order is conferred upon heads of states and other state leaders who offer Egypt or Humanity invaluable services.
The first unit represents the ideal of protecting Egypt against evils, the second is representative of prosperity and happiness brought by the River Nile and the third one signifies prosperity and endurance.

Another feather in Modi’s gallery of state honours
In the past nine years, PM Modi has been awarded Andrew Award, the highest civilian honour of Russia, Legion of Merit by the US Government, Companion of the Order of Logohu, the highest civilian award of Papua New Guinea; the Order of the Druk Gyalp, the highest civilian decoration by Bhutan; the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin, the highest honour of the Maldives,
He has also been conferred with Order of Zayed Award, the highest civilian honour of the United Arab Emirates; the State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan, the highest civilian honour of Afghanistan; the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award, the highest honour of Palestine; Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud, the highest honour of Saudi Arabia awarded to non-Muslim dignitaries; the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance by Bahrain; the Companion of the Order of Fiji and the Ebakl Award by the Republic of Palau.
