In Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district, there was a fierce clash between the local police and the villagers who had gone to remove Ambedkar’s statue. During this some villagers attacked the police and started pelting stones. After this the police lathicharged the villagers. Only then the situation was brought under control. Bhadohi police arrested 11 people after the incident. These include 8 men and 3 women. Two policemen have also been injured in the incident, who are being treated at a nearby hospital.
Police Circle Officer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar Pandey said that Dalit people made a platform and installed a two feet high statue on a pond in Munshi Latpur. On receiving the complaint, Deputy Collector Yashwant Yadav and City Kotwal Ajay Yadav reached the spot and tried to pacify the people. But the people of the township were not ready to listen to him and started pelting stones at the police. After this, the police had to resort to lathi charge to bring the situation under control. Two policemen have been injured due to stone pelting by the villagers. The police officer told that some chaotic elements are behind this incident, who want to disturb the peace system in the society by provoking people.
11 people arrested for attacking police
Rajpur police station in-charge Mukesh Kumar Singh has registered a case against 30 people for stone pelting on the police. Also, 11 people have been arrested, including 8 men and 3 women. The rest of the accused are being searched. In view of the tension in the area, heavy police force has been deployed.
