Hummer EV: Perhaps the most famous military vehicle in history is the General Motors Defence Humvee. Both the US Army and citizens enjoy using it since it has done a good job of fulfilling its objectives. The person who persuaded GM to release a civilian version of the famed Humvee was Arnold Schwarzenegger from the Terminator movie.
The GMC Hummer EV platform-based tactical vehicle design was unveiled by GM Defence at the recent Modern Day Marine 2023 expo in Washington, D.C. The Ultium platform and drivetrain used in the retail version of the Hummer EV are also used by the new car, which is known as the Electric Military Concept Vehicle (eMCV).
Hummer EV Military edition details
A trio of electric motors connected to GM’s 800V Ultium battery pack provide the Hummer EMCV with its power. The hardy-looking electric vehicle (EV) claims to have a range of up to 483 km on a single charge, with an additional 160 kilometres provided by the onboard diesel generator.
In comparison to the standard Hummer EV, the eMCV is lighter thanks to its tube chassis and lack of body panels. The range is reduced as a result of these alterations’ detrimental effects on the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency. As a result, the range is reduced from 329 miles of the retail Hummer EV to just 300 miles.
The EV does away with all the creature comforts of the original model and has fabric-covered bucket seats, multipoint seatbelts, a multifunction steering wheel, and a 12kW diesel-powered generator in the boot for range extension.
What did the company say?
Commenting on the new EV, the spokesperson said, “We are trying to showcase what is in the realm of the possible just so we can get the discussion going and help shape their future requirements. They get to see the different sizes and how to customize it, the different options.”
