Former RJD MP Shahabuddin passes away due to COVID-19

Former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin has passed away in a hospital in Delhi where he was undergoing treatment for COVID-19.

Sandeep Goel, the DG of Tihar had confirmed the news of his death. Goel informed Shahabuddin, who was serving a life sentence for murder at Tihar Jail, was suffering from COVID-19 since April 20.

Shahabuddin was admitted in Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and his condition became critical day by day.

Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the Kejriwal’s government and the prison authority to ensure proper medical supervision and care of the Tihar prisoner.

The 53-year-old was serving a life tern in a 2004 double murder case.
