MCD Schools: Flood-like situations in Delhi have brought life to a standstill. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Schools will remain close till July 16, 2023 in the wake of ongoing situation. The declaration was made in accordance with the guidelines given by representatives of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
MCD Schools to remain shut till July 16
According to officials, all aided, recognised, and MCD schools would be closed through July 16. On Thursday, the civic organisation also issued a directive ordering all schools to be closed.
Yamuna water level
A flood-like condition is currently prevalent in the national capital on by the rising water levels in the Yamuna River prompted the MCD to previously declare the closure of 10 schools in low-lying sections of the Civil Lines Zone and Shahdra region.
The water level in the Yamuna reached an all time high, causing all government and private schools in Delhi to close until July 16, according to representatives of the Directorate of Education. Many low lying areas in the national capital have been severely inundated, resulting in serious water logging and damage to homes.
Yamuna Water level stable now
A representative of the Central Water Commission (CWC) gave the assurance that the Yamuna River in Delhi has stabilised and is expected tor recede further. The water level at the Old Railway Bridge increased to 208.62 metres at 1 pm and was steady until 4 pm, as per CWC.
