Dhirendra Shastri: Considering that 82% of the population is Hindu, Kamal Nath, a Congress MP and a former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, asserted on Tuesday that India is already a Hindu rashtra. He stated that there should be no dispute on the subject because it was an established truth supported by data when he made this statement in reference to self-styled godman Dhirendra Shastri’s calls for a Hindu rashtra.
82% Hindu Population Sets India’s Identity
“Data shows that 82 per cent are Hindus in our country. There is no debate here that we are a Hindu rashtra,” the Madhya Pradesh Congress chief said. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader had attacked MP Nakul Kamal Nath, Kamal Nath’s son, the day before after he had welcomed the head priest of the Bageshwar Dham to Chhindwara. The RJD and the Congress are both a component of India’s opposition coalition. The comments sparked rumours of intramural strife in the recently established Opposition group.
RJD Veteran Slams Congress MP Nakul Kamal Nath Over Meeting Dhirendra Shastri
Shivanand Tiwari, a veteran of the RJD, condemned Congress MP Nakul Kamal Nath for receiving Dhirendra Shastri in Chhindwara, claiming that the head of the Bageshwar Dham openly supported converting India into a Hindu Rashtra. “We have been opposing Shastri for his Hindutva agenda. Our country is governed by the Constitution, not any other ideology,” said Tiwari. “Is the new low we will stoop to for reaping political dividends?” the RJD leader questioned. On X (previously Twitter), Nakul Kamal Nath hailed the self-styled godman with delight. “It is our good fortune that Gurudev’s feet touched the holy land of Chhindwara,” the Congress MP had said.
