Bihar News: A verbal dispute has ignited between Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reference to the upcoming AIIMS in Darbhanga during a recent event. The controversy revolves around the yet-to-commence construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga and underscores the political differences between the parties.
During the event, Mandaviya emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to “development politics” rather than “politics in development.” He urged Tejashwi Yadav, who oversees health matters in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, to allocate appropriate land for the AIIMS project in Darbhanga.
Tejashwi Yadav promptly responded, questioning the notion of “invisible development politics”
Tejashwi Yadav promptly responded, questioning the notion of “invisible development politics.” He pointed out that the Ministry of Health had not yet finalized the AIIMS site, despite Prime Minister Modi’s statement that the facility was already operational.
Mandaviya countered by providing a timeline, stating that the Modi government granted permission for AIIMS Darbhanga on September 19, 2020, and the Bihar government allocated the initial land on November 3, 2021. However, he accused the current administration of altering the site on April 30, 2023, for political reasons.
Tejashwi Yadav retorted by alluding to the fact that the BJP had held the health ministry in Bihar for several years, implying that their own past actions could be a factor in the delay.
This exchange underscores the ongoing political friction between the RJD and BJP in Bihar, with each side attempting to place the blame for the AIIMS delay on the other. The disagreement also reflects the larger dynamics at play between state and central governments, particularly in matters related to development projects and public services.
