Haryana News: Following the recent communal clashes that resulted in six casualties in Haryana’s Nuh and Gurugram districts, Hindu organizations organized a significant gathering known as a ‘Mahapanchayat’ in Pondri village within Haryana’s Palwal district. During this gathering, plans were announced to resume the controversial ‘Brij Mandal Yatra’ by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, which some believe had triggered the clashes in Nuh. The yatra is set to recommence on August 28. Furthermore, certain Hindu leaders at the event called for greater ease in acquiring arms for self-defense.
Leaders hailing from Palwal, Gurugram, and nearby areas convened at the ‘Sarva Jatiye Mahapanchayat’ and decided to relaunch the ‘Brij Mandal Yatra’ from Nalhar in Nuh. Acharya Azad Shastri from the Haryana Gau Rakshak Dal urged the youth in attendance not to fear filing First Information Reports (FIRs) and went on to advocate for obtaining licenses for 100 rifles in Mewat.
Arun Jaildar, a prominent Khap leader, presided over the ‘Mahapanchayat,’ which also saw participation from leaders affiliated with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), and Bajrang Dal.
‘Mahapanchayat’ faced refusal from the local administration for permission
Originally planned in Kira village of Nuh district, the ‘Mahapanchayat’ faced refusal from the local administration for permission, resulting in its relocation to the neighboring Palwal district. During the event, calls were made for the merger of Palwal and Nuh districts and for conducting surveys and providing compensation for damage incurred by Hindu-owned shops and homes during the clashes.
Leaders at the gathering advocated for sustained presence of the Rapid Action Force
Leaders at the gathering advocated for sustained presence of the Rapid Action Force and the establishment of four central force battalions in Nuh. Additionally, they urged that legal proceedings and detentions related to the violence occur outside the district of Nuh. Specifically, they proposed that the detained individuals be held in facilities such as Gurugram, rather than within Nuh.
