Shaheen Afridi’s pace stuns netizens
One of his blistering deliveries was captured by the helmet camera of Southern batter Finn Allen. The clip was subsequently shared on Twitter, drawing attention from fans who underscored Afridi’s impressive form as the crucial ICC ODI World Cup approaches, set to take place in October-November this year.
During the 15th ball of Southern Brave’s innings, Afridi unleashed a short-pitched delivery to Allen. This moment offered viewers a firsthand encounter with the remarkable speed at which a fast bowler operates, emphasizing that batters have only a minuscule fraction of time to react. In response to this delivery, characterized by its shortened trajectory, Allen made a slight movement towards his leg stump, attempting to execute a ramp shot to send the ball over the wicketkeeper’s head and beyond the boundary.

In his encounter against Southern Brave, Afridi bowled a total of ten deliveries but couldn’t secure a wicket. Nonetheless, his performance proved to be economical, conceding just 10 runs. Southern Brave, having won the toss, opted to field first in the 100-ball contest. Welsh Fire experienced a significant batting collapse, with opener Stevie Eskinazi being the sole contributor of note. Eskinazi managed to accumulate 38 runs off 34 deliveries, while the rest of the Welsh team faltered, ultimately reaching a total of 87 runs in 100 balls. On his birthday, Tymal Mills claimed a remarkable hat-trick. Subsequently, Devon Conway partnered with Captain Leus du Plooy to steer the chase. The pair remained unbeaten throughout, successfully achieving the target in 59 balls.
