Ghulam Nabi Azad: The Democratic Azad Party’s leader and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir (unified), Ghulam Nabi Azad, has made a significant declaration about the state’s demographics. He claimed that while Islam barely emerged 1500 years ago, Hinduism is much older. All of them were once Hindus.
Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Views on Hinduism and Islam’s Arrival
In a meeting, Azad stated that Hinduism has been practised in India for thousands of years whereas Islam only emerged 1500 years ago. 10–20 people who were part of their (the invaders’) army must have arrived from outside. Only Hinduism has been converted by the remaining Muslims.
Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Perspective
The clearest example of this, he claimed, can be found in Kashmir. Who lived in Kashmir 600 years ago and was a Muslim? They were all Pandit Kashmiris. They all changed and joined Islam. When our Hindu brothers burn a body, they allow the ashes to fall into a river. In our nation, a Muslim is buried in the ground after passing away. Where are the Hindus and the Muslims since our bodies are all buried in Mother India’s soil. The dirt in this place contains everything.
