Bihar: In the early hours of Friday, a tragic incident unfolded in Bihar’s Araria district as an unidentified group of individuals entered the residence of a journalist and fatally shot him. The journalist, Vimal Yadav, was associated with Dainik Jagran. The assailants, numbering four, arrived at Yadav’s house in Raniganj and targeted him with a gunshot to the chest.
Police and MP arrive on-ground
Yadav succumbed to his injuries on the scene, resulting in a great shockwave. The post-mortem site was engulfed in a significant shock and fear due to the incident. Various police authorities, including the Superintendent of Police and a local Member of Parliament, have assembled at the location in response to the situation.
Araria SP Ashok Kumar Singh said, “A journalist from Dainik Jagran, Vimal, was shot dead by four men at around 5.30 am in Raniganj market area in Bihar’s Araria. The FSL team is at the spot, deceased’s body was taken for post-mortem. Efforts are underway to nab the accused.” Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), strongly criticized the Nitish-led Bihar government, citing its inability to effectively uphold law and order.
Bihar Police responds
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also conveyed his sorrow and condolences regarding the incident. He said, “It’s an unfortunate incident. I have ordered the officials to take immediate action soon after receiving the news.” The police is currently investigating the crime and is in search of the people who stormed into the house.
