Actor Prakash Raj recently used X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a post celebrating India’s successful Chandrayaan-3 mission. This comes after he had previously faced criticism for making a joke related to the country’s third lunar mission. Raj later clarified that the joke was a common one among people from the state of Kerala.
The actor later clarified by stating that”Hate sees only Hate.. i was referring to a joke of #Armstrong times .. celebrating our kerala Chaiwala .. which Chaiwala did the TROLLS see ?? .. if you dont get a joke then the joke is on you .. GROW UP #justasking.”
Prakash Raj shared an image featuring a man wearing a lungi
In the new post, Prakash Raj shared an image featuring a man wearing a lungi and vest, pouring tea. This image seemed to reference his earlier comments aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he had humorously referred to Modi as a “chaiwala” (tea seller). This was likely a nod to the political discourse around Modi’s background before entering politics.
However, Raj’s earlier comments had not been well-received by all. A police complaint was lodged against the actor for his remarks about the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Hindu organizations’ leaders filed the complaint in Karnataka’s Bagalkote district, expressing their displeasure with his remarks.
Another tweet
The actor tweeted, “PROUD MOMENT for INDIA and to Humankind.. Thank you #ISRO #Chandrayaan3 #VikramLander and to everyone who contributed to make this happen .. may this guide us to Explore and Celebrate the mystery of our UNIVERSE .. #justasking (sic).”
It’s clear that Prakash Raj’s recent post celebrating the Chandrayaan-3 mission carries a certain level of context due to his past comments and the subsequent backlash he faced. The use of humor and political references has sparked both support and criticism, showcasing the complex dynamics often found in public figures’ online statements.
Meanwhile some users defended him by saying “Those who know only hate will see only hate. If it makes any difference, @prakashraaj is referencing a joke (that predates anyone you feel he is insulting) about how we find Keralites at every corner of the world and how the first thing Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin saw when they stepped foot on the moon was a Malayali selling tea there.”
“This is a classic joke made by us Keralites about ourselves and we wholeheartedly accept and laugh about it since decades. Now, if you have to insist on sticking to hate even after it has been explained to you, that says a lot about you, doesn’t it? #Chandrayaan3Mission,” the complete post read.
