Dos on Raksha Bandhan 2023
1. Correct Direction: During the ritual, it’s recommended for the brother to sit facing the east or north direction. However, it’s important to avoid facing the south direction.
2. Hygiene: Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness is paramount on Raksha Bandhan, as this occasion involves sacred rituals and revolves around the solemn promises of safeguarding each other from harm.
3. Rituals: Before placing the Rakhi on their brother’s wrist, sisters should offer prayers to God, apply a tilak on the brother’s forehead, and tie a Rakhi to Lord Ganesh or another deity to seek blessings.
4. Covering head: During the ritual, it’s recommended for the brother to cover his head with a handkerchief, and the sister should also cover her head with a scarf.
Don’t’s on Raksha Bandhan 2023
1. Gifting Sharp Objects: It’s important not to give gifts with sharp objects on Raksha Bandhan. Additionally, the Rakhi should always be tied on the right hand.
2. Rahu Kaal & Bhadra: Sisters should be cautious not to perform any aspect of the Raksha Bandhan ritual during Rahu Kaal or Bhadra, as these times are considered highly inauspicious.
3. Design of Rakhi: Rakhi designs often feature symbols like Om, Swastika, or Kalash. Yet, sisters should be attentive when choosing designs, ensuring they avoid any inauspicious symbols on the Rakhi.
