PM Modi: The 55-member African Union, which joined the meeting at New Delhi’s invitation, was cited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday as an example of how India has improved inclusivity at the G20 summit while holding the chair. On December 1, 2022, India took up the G20 leadership from Indonesia. The Prime Minister asked everyone to make the G20 meeting in Delhi a success and “bring glory to the country” during the 104th episode of his monthly radio show Mann ki Baat.
PM Modi’s Enthusiasm for Hosting the Leaders’ Summit
India, he claimed, is prepared to host the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Delhi the following month. “The month of September is going to witness the potential of India. We are fully prepared for the G20 Leaders’ Summit. Heads of 40 countries and many global organisations will be coming to Delhi to participate in this event. This will be the biggest participation in the history of the G20 summit,” PM Modi said. The Prime Minister referred to India’s G20 presidency as a “people’s presidency” where the importance of and emphasis on public involvement was paramount. He mentioned the contributions of women, business owners, lawmakers, young people, members of civic society, and those involved in urban management. He claimed that boosting public participation led to the setting of two world records. One was the 1.25 lakh pupils from 800 schools who participated in the Varanasi G20 quiz, setting a new record.
Lambani Artisans Craft 1800 Unique Patches
“At the same time, 450 Lambani artisans showcased their skills and craftsmanship by creating an amazing collection of around 1,800 unique patches,” he added. In contrast to convention, which has it that such activities are held in major cities, PM Modi stated that over 200 G20-related events were held in 60 locations across the nation. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union make up the G20, also known as the Group of Twenty. They currently make up more over 80% of the global GDP, 75% of international trade, and 60% of the world’s population.
