Himachal Weather Update: Following a landslip this morning close to Giripul, the Solan-Rajgarh route was shut down to vehicular traffic today. When the road was closed, trucks hauling apples from the Sirmaur and Shimla areas to Solan were unable to travel there. Vehicles carrying necessities like milk, groceries, and newspapers could not travel from Solan to Rajgarh. The road is used by patients from Sirmaur’s surrounding communities to get medical services in Solan.
Efforts to Clear Landslide and Restore Connectivity
A big number of people use this important road, which connects Rajgarh to Solan and Chandigarh, so the Public Works Department workers were hurried to the location to clear the road. In the meantime, Sirmaur district saw the opening of the crucial Renuka Ji-Sataun road for vehicular traffic. The villagers were transported on private buses, which was a huge comfort to the locals. Yesterday, a significant amount of muck fell on a road close to Ambon Khala, closing it to traffic.
Traffic Restored on Parwanoo-Dharampur Highway After Debris Clearance
However, once the debris was cleared, the Parwanoo-Dharampur national highway-5 through Chakki Mor was made available to traffic. To lift the rubble, men and machinery were assigned around-the-clock. Another development is that SP Baddi, Mohit Chawla, has today banned the movement of heavy vehicles as well as slow moving vehicles like trucks, trailers, tractors, and earth-moving equipment on the Red Light Chowk, Baddi, Sikka Hotel, toll tax barrier, Lakkar depot bridge, Jharmajri, Barotiwala, and Baddi between 7:30 am and 10:30 am and 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
