Lionel Messi: It looks like the real world is not as forgiving as FIFA. Ex-Spanish football president Luis Rubiales is under a lot of scrutiny after the kissing incident during the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final medal ceremony.
Luis kissed Spanish player Jenni Hermoso on her lips without her consent and it has created a lot of stir. FIFA has suspended Luis for 90 days meanwhile Spain Football Federation is asking for a resignation.
Amidst the controversy, a 16-year-old clip has been going viral on social media showing a 19-year-old Lionel Messi running circles around Luis Rubiales on the football pitch. The teenager absolutely embarrassed Rubiales as he was not able to catch Messi.
Lionel Messi Embarasses Rubiales
The clip features highlights of the match between FC Barcelona and Levante in 2007. While Barcelona was slipping down on the table, they played one match perfectly and that was against Levante.
Unfortunately, Luis Rubiales was part of that Levante side and was in the left-back position. This means that he had to face the wrath of Lionel Messi directly and he did. The World Cup winner ran circles around him.
He fake-turned him multiple times, nutmegged him, and even forced him to get on his knees. Rubiales was clueless for the entirety of the match and had no idea how to tackle with quickness of the Argentine.
