Udhayanidhi Stalin: The son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin, claimed that the BJP had “twist” his comments on Sanatana dharma but insisted that he still stood by them. He declared that he was prepared to defend himself in court. On Saturday, Udhayanidhi Stalin, a minister in the DMK administration that is currently in power, compared Sanatana dharma to “dengue” and “malaria” and declared that it should be “eradicated” instead of being resisted. His comments caused a stir, and the BJP turned on the Congress, the DMK, and other opposition party members in India.
Udhayanidhi Stalin Defends His Sanatana Dharma Critique
When asked about his remarks, Udhayanidhi Stalin stuck to his guns and said that all he had done was “criticise” and call for the “eradication” of Sanatana dharma. “I will say this continuously. Few are being childish saying I invited for genocide while others are saying that Dravidam should be abolished. Does that mean DMKians should be killed? When PM Modi says ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’, does that mean Congressmen should be killed? What is Sanatana? It means nothing should be changed and all are permanent,” he was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.
Udhayanidhi Stalin Accuses BJP of Distortion and Defends DMK’s Policy
“But the Dravida model calls for change and all should be equal. The BJP is twisting my statement and spreading fake news. It’s their usual job. I am ready to face whatever cases they file against me. The BJP is scared of INDIA bloc and to divert attention, they are saying all this. DMK’s policy is ‘One clan, one God’,” the minister said. In response to the outcry, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman posted a video of Tamil Nadu Congress president KS Alagiri in which he is heard declaring that the alliance in the state was formed in order to “destroy” Sanatana dharma.
Clash Over Sanatana Dharma Comments
Amit Malviya, the chairman of the BJP‘s IT unit, had already criticised Udhayanidhi Stalin for his comments regarding Sanatana dharma and said that he was “calling for the genocide of 80% of the population.” Udhayanidhi Stalin responded to Amit Malviya by claiming that he never asked for the “genocide” of adherents of the Sanatana dharma. He said that he was speaking on behalf of the underprivileged groups who, according to him, were suffering as a result of Sanatana dharma. He asserted that the Sanatana Dharma is a principle that creates barriers between individuals based on their religious and caste affiliations. Udhayanidhi Stalin added, “Uprooting Sanatana dharma involves maintaining humanity and human equality.
