Throughout the years, Gautam Gambhir has had conflicts with Virat Kohli. In the 2013 IPL season, Gambhir, who was then the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), engaged in a heated confrontation with Virat Kohli, who was representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The situation escalated until other players intervened to separate them. This year’s IPL also witnessed a similar incident when Gambhir, now serving as a mentor for Lucknow Supergiants (LSG), had a heated exchange with Virat Kohli.
Gautam Gambhir is currently in Sri Lanka, serving as a member of the commentary team for the 2023 Asia Cup. Gautam Gambhir was seen talking on his phone when he heard the resounding “Kohli, Kohli” chants. At that moment, the former opening batsman turned towards the chanting fans and made a rather surprising gesture by raising his middle finger.

In the India versus Pakistan match that took place in Pallekele on Saturday, September 2, Gambhir criticised Virat Kohli’s dismissal by Shaheen Afridi. He said, “That was a nothing shot, neither forward, neither back. I think was a bit casual. That’s what you get when you play someone like Shaheen Afridi. You don’t know whether to go forward or back.”
