Indian security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists. The operation, based on intelligence inputs, was jointly conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police to prevent the terrorists from crossing the LoC.
According to Brigadier PMS Dhillon, Commander of the Pir Panjal Brigade, three terrorists attempted to infiltrate, but alert troops engaged them. Two of the terrorists were neutralized, and their bodies were recovered. However, the retrieval of the third terrorist’s body was hampered by gunfire from a Pakistan post near the LoC.
The operation yielded the recovery of significant weaponry
The operation yielded the recovery of significant weaponry and war-like stores from the slain terrorists, including two AK Rifles, one pistol, seven hand grenades, and one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), along with Pakistan currency notes.
It’s important to note that India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC in February 2021, aiming to promote mutually beneficial and sustainable peace in the border region.
This infiltration attempt occurred during ongoing security force operations to eliminate terrorists in the dense forest area of Anantnag district. The encounter in Anantnag had been ongoing for four days, with four security personnel losing their lives in the operation.
