Punjab News: According to Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, government critical care units will be established with state-of-the-art facilities like cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, ICU, and trauma services as per instructions from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to provide super speciality services in government hospitals.
The Punjab government will soon establish services for cardiac and neuro procedures in district hospitals to relieve the poor from pricey treatment of heart and neuro-related disorders at private hospitals.
Critical care units
Dr. Balbir Singh, the minister of health and family welfare, said on Sunday that the government would establish critical care units where cutting-edge facilities like cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, ICU, and trauma services will be provided, in accordance with chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s directives to provide super specialty services in government hospitals.
“These critical care units would be linked with government medical colleges thus making secondary and tertiary healthcare in common people’s reach and the patients with such diseases will not have to spend their savings on treatment,” Dr Balbir said.
The state’s ‘Farishte’ scheme, which will offer all essential medical care at no cost to accident victims for the first 24 hours following disasters, will begin in the state next month, according to a separate announcement from the health minister.
