New Covid-19 cases saw a slight increase yet again on Thursday as 54,069 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With the addition of new infections, country’s overall caseload has increased to 3,00,82,778.
In the same time span, the country also saw 1,321 more people dying due to the virus, taking the overall death toll to 3,91,981.
Meanwhile, recoveries continued to outnumber new cases for the 42nd consecutive day as 68885 more people discharged in the last 24 hours, takin the total recoveries to 2,90,63,740. The recovery rate further improved to 96.61 per cent.
The country currently has 6,27,057 active cases left in the country currently. The active tally has dipped by 16,137 in the last 24 hours.
A total of 39,78,32,667 samples were tested up to 23rd June. Of which, 18,59,469 samples were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research.
Overall, more than 30 crore doses of vaccines have been administered since the rollout of the drive on January 16. At least 63.2 lakh inoculations were recorded till 9.30pm on Wednesday with Madhya Pradesh leading the way with 11.2 lakh shots administered.
Meanwhile, the overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 179.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.88 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
