Uttarakhand News: India’s border with China and Nepal will now be illuminated by electricity. Here, UPCL is establishing an electricity network. A request for Rs. 375 crore has been submitted to the Central Government in this regard. On the border between China and Nepal, there are border stations run by the ITBP, Army, and SSB. These border guardsmen’s only lighting options up to this point have been sun lights or kerosene chimneys.
Border Security and Strategic Significance
On this border, there are 2 Army borders, 41 ITBP borders, and an SSB cantonment in the Champawat district. At this crucial location from a strategic standpoint, there is no electricity line yet. Now, in light of its importance on a global scale, the government is not only strengthening the local road system, but also planning to develop an electricity network.
Electrification for Border Security and Development
Soon, UPCL power lines will be in Champawat, Dharchula, and Uttarkashi. For this, UPCL has created a DPR of Rs 375 crore and sent it to Power Finance Corporation. Electricity along the border will not only light up the Army and ITBP checkpoints, but it will also encourage more development projects that are already underway. It is simple to supply and use electricity.
