Israel has confirmed that the Hamas terror group took Israelis as hostages to the Gaza Strip during a massive assault on the country’s south. The Israel Defense Forces’ top spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, confirmed this development during a briefing with reporters. Although no specific numbers were provided for the hostages or soldiers killed, Hagari stated that Israeli soldiers had been killed in the fighting.
The ongoing fighting in southern Israel includes hostage situations in Be’eri and Ofakim, with 22 locations still engaged in conflict. Israeli troops have reached all towns on the Gaza border and are working to assess the situation in each one.
In response to the situation, four divisions are being deployed to the Gaza border, in addition to the 31 battalions already stationed there.
