Lucknow News: Without the candidate’s knowledge, it is claimed that the college decision they had made during the first round of Ayush counselling was modified during the second round.
Applicants Allege Choice Tampering
A total of 30 applicants who took part in the second round of admissions counselling for the state’s Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic, and Unani institutions filed a complaint with both the Ayush department and the cyber cell of the Lucknow Commissionerate. “A number of candidates informed about change in their choice of college or choice filling with our helpline number and via e-mail. They produced the IP address from where they had filled choice of college and claimed that after this they found the college they had filled was replaced with some other institute,” said Dr Arvind Verma, director, homeopathy in his FIR.
Ayush Counselling Process Explained
A candidate must select the college into which he desires admission on a priority basis throughout the counselling process. As a result, the college is set as the first choice and the names of a few other institutions are also entered, giving applicants the option of attending one of the other universities listed according to their choice from one to five. The first round of counselling was held in September for 7210 seats in 85 Ayush colleges, while the second round was held for the 2701 seats that were unclaimed after the first round, which distributed 4509 seats.
Ayush Counselling Faces Second Scrutiny Following Allegations of Fraud
Dr. Verma provided police with the letters of 12 candidates who claimed their college preference had been altered without their knowledge in the FIR filed on October 11 under the IT Act. It has happened twice since 2021 that Ayush counselling has been scrutinised. In the past, fraud was discovered when 891 allotments were discovered to be made fraudulently. Nine of the 891 people on this list—who never even sat the NEET exam—were nonetheless given seats in institutions. In 2021, 7338 seats in institutions of homoeopathy, ayurveda, and unani were available for counselling. ADCP East Sayyed Abbas said, “Investigation in the matter is on and action will be taken according to the findings.”
