Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP, has written to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and his junior minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar, requesting an inquiry into allegations related to a ‘bribe for questions’ charge against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra.
On Sunday, Dubey wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging that he had received a letter from a Supreme Court lawyer containing “irrefutable” evidence of bribes exchanged between Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani. He urged the Speaker to establish a probe panel to investigate the claims, stating that it was reminiscent of the 2005 ‘Cash for Query’ scandal.
Mahua Moitra had provided access to her Lok Sabha website login credentials?
In a recent letter, the BJP MP reiterated the allegations and urged the IT Ministry to investigate whether Mahua Moitra had provided access to her Lok Sabha website login credentials to Hiranandani and his real-estate conglomerate Hiranandani Group. He suggested that they may have used this access for personal gain, characterizing the allegation as “possibly the most damning and grave of all the charges” against her. He emphasized that if proven true, it could constitute a serious criminal breach of trust and a violation of India’s national security.
Calls for investigation
Moreover, Dubey called for an investigation to determine the IP addresses associated with all login credentials of Moitra’s Lok Sabha account and whether there were instances of access from locations where she was not present. He labeled Moitra’s behavior as “immoral, unlawful, and detrimental to the nation’s security,” and stressed the need for the IT Ministry to treat the allegations with “utmost seriousness.”
In a previous letter to the Speaker, Nishikant Dubey claimed that 50 out of 61 questions asked by the Trinamool MP in the Lok Sabha had focused on the Adani Group, a business conglomerate she accused of malpractices.
