Delhi News: The city of Delhi is gearing up to celebrate the auspicious Dussehra festival with grand Ramlilas organized by various committees. To ensure a seamless experience for devotees and visitors, the Delhi traffic police have issued a road advisory. Here’s what you need to know to navigate the festivities smoothly.
Three grand Ramlilas are being organized by the Luv Kush Ram Leela Committee, Dharmik Ram Leela Committee, and Nav Dharmik Ram Leela Committee at Madhav Das Park and 15th August Park in front of the historic Red Fort. These celebrations began on October 15 and will continue until October 25, with events commencing daily at 6:00 pm.
Ramlila Traffic Diversion Points
To manage the expected increase in traffic, the Delhi traffic police have designated several diversion points:
- N.S. Marg Diversion: In the event of growing traffic congestion on N.S. Marg, traffic coming from Daryaganj will be redirected towards Nishad Raj Marg.
- Red Fort Route Diversion: If traffic congestion occurs on N.S. Marg, traffic heading towards Red Fort from Chatta Rall will be redirected to Salimgarh bypass and M.G.M. (Ring Road).
- Commercial Vehicle and Bus Diversions: Diversions for commercial vehicles and buses will be planned based on the traffic situation in front of the Red Fort.
How to Reach the Ramlila
The Delhi traffic police strongly recommend using the metro services for your journey to the Ramlila venues. The nearest metro stations to the celebration sites are:
- Red Fort and Jama Masjid on the Violet Line
- Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazaar on the Yellow Line
General Recommendations
To ensure a hassle-free visit to the Ramlilas, follow these recommendations from the Delhi traffic police:
- Use Public Transportation: Take advantage of public transportation facilities such as the Delhi Metro, DTC Buses, TSRS, and taxis to reach the Ramlila venues.
- Explore Alternatives: Due to limited parking space and the anticipation of significant crowds, it’s advisable to explore alternative public transportation options.
- Avoid Late Evening Crowds: Refrain from visiting N.S. Marg in front of Red Fort and Chandni Chowk during late evening hours when traffic congestion is likely.
- App-Based Taxi Services: If you’re using app-based taxi services or TSR (three-wheeler shared cabs), select “Chatta Rail” or “Daryaganj” as drop-off and pick-up points for your convenience.
