Nishikant Dubey had previously requested Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to establish an inquiry committee to examine the allegations against Mahua Moitra. He also called for her immediate suspension from the House.

In his communication to the Speaker, Dubey raised concerns that out of 61 questions asked by Moitra in Parliament, a substantial number were focused on the Adani Group. He stated that there were clear indications of a criminal conspiracy aimed at furthering the business interests of businessman Darshan Hiranandani through these parliamentary questions, echoing a past ‘Cash for Query’ episode.
Dubey’s claims were based on the assertion of advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, who purportedly possessed “irrefutable” evidence of bribes exchanged between Moitra and Darshan Hiranandani.
In response, Moitra issued a legal notice to Nishikant Dubey and Jai Anant Dehadrai, categorically denying any acceptance of benefits in exchange for her parliamentary duties, deeming the allegations defamatory, false, and unsupported by evidence.
