Israel-Palestine Conflict: Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, stated on Saturday that India has never engaged in combat or a war on issues similar to those that precipitated the Israeli-Hamas conflict.
RSS Chief’s Speech at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Commemoration Highlights India’s Inclusive Culture
Speaking at a celebration to commemorate 350 years since Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was crowned in a Nagpur school, Bhagwat remarked, “In this country, there is a religion, and culture that respects all sects and faiths. That religion in Hinduism. This is a country of Hindus. That does not mean we reject all other (religions). Once you say Hindu, it is not needed to be told that Muslims too were protected. Only Hindus do this. Only India does this. Others have not done this.”
Mohan Bhagwat’s Perspective on Hinduism
He added, “Everywhere else, strifes are underway. You must have heard of the war in Ukraine, Hamas-Israel war. In our country, there were never wars on such issues. The invasion during Shivaji Maharaj’s times was of that kind. But we never fought battles on this issue with anybody. That is why we are Hindus.” After Hamas launched surprise attacks in southern Israel on October 7, killing over 1,400 people—mostly civilians—the war between Israel and the militant group from Palestine entered its sixteenth day. Bhagwat made these remarks after the attacks. Israel launched a “total siege” of Gaza in retaliation.
Israel’s Three-Phase Plan in Gaza
As part of a three-phase plan to seize control of the Palestinian area, Israel announced its intention to step up its operations in the constrained Gaza Strip. The last stage of this plan, according to the Israeli Defence Forces, entails altering Gaza’s “security regime”. To be ready for the next phase of the fight, the Israeli army practised live fire on Saturday. On October 24, in honour of Dussehra, Bhagwat will speak at the RSS’s annual Vijaydashmi Utsav in Nagpur. Shankar Mahadevan, a singer, has been invited by the organisation as the chief guest.
Dussehra Function at Reshimbaug
The traditional Dussehra function, which takes place at the Reshimbaug site, is a highlight of the organization’s schedule of events. The primary event is scheduled to begin at 7.40 am, however there will be a road march, or patha sanchalan, starting at roughly 6.20 am from CP and Berar College Gate and Reshimbagh Ground. On Dussehra in September 1925, Keshav Baliram Hedgewar started the RSS.
