Complaints Against the Leaders
- Complaint Against Himanta Biswa Sarma: The Congress filed a complaint with the EC, alleging that Himanta Biswa Sarma made controversial remarks in a campaign speech targeting Chhattisgarh’s only Muslim minister, Mohammad Akbar, in Kawardha on October 18.
- Complaint Against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: The Rajasthan BJP accused Priyanka Gandhi of making “false statements” about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invoked his personal religious devotion. The EC’s notice to Priyanka Gandhi mentioned that a person’s relationship with a deity should not be a matter of public scrutiny and that her statement diminishes the devotee in the public’s estimation.
Upcoming Assembly Elections in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh
- Election Context: The assembly elections in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are scheduled to be held next month. The complaints and notices come amid the ongoing election campaign in these states.
- Issues Raised in Campaign: Himanta Biswa Sarma had raised several issues during his campaign in Chhattisgarh, including allegations of religious conversion and secularism.
