MP News: In the midst of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, a video purportedly featuring Devendra Pratap Singh, the elder son of Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, has ignited a political storm across the state. The viral video, circulating on social media, has raised questions about significant financial transactions and has become a focal point in the political landscape leading up to the elections.
Alleged Viral Video Sparks Controversy in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections
The video allegedly showcases Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar, also known as Ramu, engaged in a phone conversation with a prominent businessman regarding transactions involving crores of rupees. The discussion includes requests for details concerning five different accounts related to the transaction, as well as a stipulated time frame for the exchange.
Within the viral video, it is claimed that a party with the surname Tyagi is prepared to provide Rs 100 crore through a retired commissioner of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as a means to finalize the deal and execute financial transactions with an individual named Harpreet Gill and the operator of a firm named Gill. Devendra Pratap Tomar, acting as the middleman, addresses the other party as “Guruji” and, at times, as “brother.”
The video also alludes to a separate deal worth Rs. 39 crores with parties in Rajasthan and Punjab, with Rs. 18 crores already received and an additional Rs. 21 crores to be paid later.
The video was shared by Congress’ state media coordinator Piyush Babele on X (formerly known as Twitter) with a demand for a probe by the Income Tax department.
In response to the viral video, Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar has lodged a complaint with the Morena Superintendent of Police. The police have subsequently registered a case at the Civil Lines police station. Tomar asserts that there is a concerted effort to tarnish his reputation through the dissemination of this video, alleging that it has been manipulated and edited as part of a conspiracy against him. He further claims that his opponents are using this video to create a negative atmosphere in the run-up to the elections.
