Electric blankets: People are going above and beyond to stay warm, snug, and comfortable as the country’s northern regions shake due to the cold wave. While some combat the dropping temperatures with heaters, thermal apparel, gloves, and socks, others take preventative measures like buying an electronic blanket so they can sleep soundly without having to worry about the cold.
Electric blankets: what are they?
This blanket maintains its warmth by the use of integrated electrical heating wires that conduct an electric current. There are many different kinds of it: duvets, throws, over blankets, and under blankets.
Are they safe?
Although there are worries regarding the safety of electric blankets, there is very little chance of burns or flames with a brand-new blanket.
This isn’t the case with electric blankets that are defective, outdated, or used incorrectly, as these factors account for most occurrences in which people are burned by electric blankets.
If you enjoy using an electric blanket while you sleep and are unsure of its age, you might want to acquire a new one.
How to use them safely?
- Make sure your blanket is off when not in use.
- Avoid using more than one electric blanket concurrently.
- Avoid using a heating pad and an electric blanket together.
- Avoid plugging your blanket into an electrical outlet that is managed by a light switch to prevent accidental turning on.
- An electric blanket should not be washed.
- For an electric blanket, do not dry clean.
- Before going to bed, turn off your blanket.
- Avoid lying on an electric blanket.
- Avoid tucking an electric blanket’s edges under the mattress.
- An electric blanket should never have cushions, blankets, books, toys, or other objects piled on top of it.
- Stay away from using an electric blanket and a hot water bottle at the same time.
