In a recent survey conducted by US-based consultancy firm Morning Consult, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has retained his position as the world’s most popular leader with an impressive approval rating of 76%. The data, released on December 7, positions Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in the second spot, securing a commendable 66% approval. Alain Berset, the President of the Swiss Confederation, claims the third position with a solid 58% approval rating.
Global Leaders’ Approval Landscape
Brazil’s Lula da Silva and Australia’s Anthony Albanese secure the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, in Morning Consult’s weekly survey. Notably, US President Joe Biden occupies the eighth spot with a 37% approval rating, while Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala garners the lowest approval rating at 16%. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak holds a 25% approval rating.
Disapproval Ratings and Survey Parameters
The disapproval ratings indicate that while Prime Minister Modi’s disapproval stands at 18%, President Obrador of Mexico faces a 29% disapproval rate. The data for Morning Consult’s latest approval ratings was collected from November 29 to December 5, 2023. These ratings are based on a seven-day moving average of adult residents in each country, with varying sample sizes contributing to the overall assessment of global leaders’ popularity.
