Pakistan has admitted that some of the political dissidents who have applied for asylum in the UK and other nations have ties to terrorist organisations within the nation. Mumtaz Zehra Baloch, a spokesman for the Foreign Office, made the comment on Thursday during her weekly media briefing in response to a query regarding the purported acid attack on an aide to imprisoned Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Mirza Shahzad Akbar’s Acid Attack Claim
Mirza Shahzad Akbar, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former special assistant to the prime minister, stated last week that he was attacked at his UK home and that “acidic liquid” was thrown at him. When questioned about the incident, a representative for the Foreign Office denied any suggestions that Pakistan or any Pakistani agencies were involved in the attack, stating that it is not “our policy to target our own nationals abroad.”
Political Dissidents Seeking Asylum
Nonetheless, she stated that a large number of political dissidents have applied for political asylum and have been residing in the UK and other nations for a number of decades. “Many of them have had links with terrorist entities inside Pakistan,” she said. She declared that no extraterritorial attacks against these people had been carried out by Pakistan.
