Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, is set to undergo a significant expansion of his cabinet. The new government may witness the swearing-in of 30 ministers, a number reminiscent of the previous Shivraj government, which had 33 ministers. The impact of the recently held Lok Sabha elections is anticipated to reflect in the composition of the cabinet.
Major Cabinet Expansion Expected in Madhya Pradesh Government
Leaders convened in Delhi to discuss the cabinet list with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Party sources suggest that the cabinet list might be influenced by the outcomes of the Lok Sabha elections, with the Bharatiya Janata Party potentially appointing a minister from each of the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. This could open up opportunities for several new legislators to become ministers.
The list of ministers is currently kept confidential, and Rajpal Singh Sisodia, the BJP spokesperson for the state, has compared the process of determining the cabinet to the way the Chief Minister’s name was decided. He mentioned that even Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was unaware that he might be given the opportunity to lead the party as Chief Minister.
The announcement of the cabinet list will become public only after the official declaration, and it is anticipated that the recent Lok Sabha elections may indeed influence the final composition. Notably, 12 ministers from the previous Shivraj government faced defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections, creating an expectation for new faces in the upcoming cabinet.
