PM Modi: Experts have called Atal Setu, India’s longest sea bridge, a “engineering marvel” since its lights don’t interfere with the aquatic environment and its construction used various technologies that weren’t used before in India, according to a top official.
Historic Inauguration
The ₹17,840 crore Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri—Nhava Sheva Atal Setu—will be officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Atal Setu bridge is the longest in India and the nation’s longest sea bridge.
India’s First Sea Bridge with Cutting-Edge Technologies
“On January 12, PM Modi will inaugurate the Atal Setu – the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link. This is India’s longest bridge built on the sea. Several such technologies have been used in the making of this bridge, which are used for the first time in India. The lights used in this bridge do not disturb the aquatic environment.,” Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA Dr Sanjay Mukherjee said.
PM Modi’s Maharashtra Visit
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Maharashtra, where he will launch projects valued at over ₹30,000,500 crore. The Prime Minister will also introduce Namo Mahila Shashaktikaran Abhiyaan in the state and lay the cornerstone for an underground road tunnel connecting the Orange Gate of the Eastern Motorway during his visit.
Vision for Mobility
According to an official statement, the prime minister wants to increase people’ “ease of mobility” by bolstering urban transit infrastructure and connections. In keeping with this goal, the Mumbai Transharbour link (MTHL), currently known as “Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri – Nhava Sheva Atal Setu,” was constructed, according to the statement. PM Modi placed the bridge’s foundation stone in December 2016.
Atal Setu Promises Quicker Routes to Airports and Ports
The construction of Atal Setu came at a cost of almost ₹ 17,840 crore. The six-lane bridge spans a distance of roughly 21.8 km, of which 16.5 km is above sea level and the remaining 5.5 km is on land.
In addition to cutting down on travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa, and South India, it will offer quicker access to both Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport. According to the announcement, it will also enhance connectivity between Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Mumbai Port.
Navi Mumbai’s Grand Showcase
The public programme in Navi Mumbai will see the Prime Minister showcase development projects valued at over ₹ 12,700 crore. The Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone for the subterranean road tunnel that runs from Marine Drive to the Orange Gate of the Eastern Motorway. The 9.2 kilometre tunnel, which will shorten the time it takes to get from Orange Gate to Marine Drive, will be constructed in Mumbai at a cost of more than ₹ 8700 crore.
PM Dedicates First Phase of Surya Regional Bulk Drinking Water Project
The first phase of the Surya regional bulk drinking water project will be dedicated to the country by the prime minister. Around 14 lakh people will benefit from the project, which was created at a cost of more than ₹ 1,975 crore, which will supply drinking water to the Maharashtra districts of Palghar and Thane.
Railway Revitalization
The Prime Minister would dedicate around ₹ 2000 crore of railway projects to the country at the programme. At the Santacruz Electronic Export Processing Zone-Special Economic Zone (SEEPZ SEZ), the Prime Minister will officially open the “Bharat Ratnam” (Mega Common Facilitation Centre) for the gems and jewellery industry. This is the first of its kind in India and features the “best available machines in world including 3D Metal printing.”
Mega CFC to Host Training School for Kids with Special Needs
This will host a training school for kids with special needs, aimed at skilling the workforce in this industry. The Mega CFC would support domestic manufacture while revolutionising the export market for gems and jewellery.
