PM Modi: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to speak at a public gathering and present many development projects valued at over Rs 6,400 crore in Srinagar. The Prime Minister will also attend the “Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir” programme at the Srinagar stadium on his first visit to Kashmir since the repeal of Article 370.
Tourism Boost Initiatives
In line with the ‘Swadesh Darshan’ and ‘PRASHAD’ (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) schemes, PM Narendra Modi is set to initiate tourism-related national projects valued at over Rs 1,400 crore. Among these projects is one aimed at the integrated development of Srinagar’s Hazratbal shrine.
Innovative Tourism Strategies Unveiled
Along with revealing the tourism sites chosen under the Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD) initiative, he will also launch the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora’ campaign and the ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice tourism Destination Poll”.
Along with meeting with recipients of several central schemes, such as women achievers, farmers, and entrepreneurs, PM Modi is scheduled to hand out appointment letters to about one thousand recently hired government employees in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the statement.
Revolutionizing Agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir
According to the statement, the “Holistic Agriculture Development Programme” (HADP), which the prime minister will introduce, will cover the entire range of activities in the three main domains of horticulture, agriculture, and livestock husbandry. This will significantly boost the agri-economy of the region.
About 2.5 lakh farmers are anticipated to receive skill-development training through the plan, and robust value chains will be developed for the benefit of the farming community, along with the establishment of about 2,000 farmers’ service centres.
According to the statement, PM Modi’s planned tourism initiatives are in keeping with his goal of enhancing visitors’ entire experience at popular tourist and pilgrimage destinations throughout the nation by constructing first-rate facilities and infrastructure there.
Beyond Hazratbal Shrine
In addition to the Hazratbal shrine project, other initiatives include the construction of tourism facilities in Meghalaya’s Northeast Circuit, Rajasthan’s Spiritual Circuit, Bihar’s Rural and Tirthankar Circuit, and several more projects in states like Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. In addition, 43 initiatives that will create a variety of tourism destinations and places of pilgrimage around the nation will be introduced by the prime minister.
PM’s Call to Action
“The campaign is being launched based on the clarion call of the Prime Minister, wherein he requested Indian diaspora members to encourage at least five non-Indian friends to travel to India. With more than three crore overseas Indians, the Indian diaspora can serve as a powerful catalyst for Indian tourism, acting as cultural ambassadors,” the statement said.
Bakshi Stadium Prepares for PM’s Rally
According to news agency PTI, the prime minister’s rally will take place at Bakshi Stadium, which has been outfitted with tight security measures and a tricolour flag.
The upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the opposition parties’ desire for a statement on assembly votes in Jammu and Kashmir have given the Prime Minister’s planned visit a keen political edge, as they anticipate his potential remarks on the matter.
Security Measures Heightened
A number of schools in Srinagar that are located along the Prime Minister’s route were instructed to close on Wednesday and Thursday, and the Thursday board exams were rescheduled for next month. While security personnel have increased foot patrols within a two-kilometer radius of the event, drones and CCTV cameras are being employed for observation.
To stop any subversive actions using the Jhelum River and Dal Lake, marine commandos have been stationed there. On August 5, 2019, the BJP-led Centre divided the former state into the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, nullifying the requirements of Article 370.
Forced Assembly of Workers
Abdullah asserted that under penalty of disciplinary action, thousands of workers were forced to assemble before morning and taken to the location. He said that attendance were not there voluntarily and accused the government of staging the gathering to create the appearance of support for the BJP. He further claimed that private schools were forced to supply buses so that workers could get to the demonstration.
