In a significant public event held in Itanagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi propelled the BJP’s electoral momentum in the Northeastern region by emphasizing his commitment to development irrespective of parliamentary seat count. The event witnessed the launch of several crucial projects aimed at fostering industrialization and infrastructure growth in the region.
Sela Tunnel
Among the inaugurated projects, the Sela Tunnel project stands out as a monumental achievement in enhancing connectivity and bolstering tourism prospects in Arunachal Pradesh. Executed by the Border Roads Organisation, the project features two tunnels and a crucial link road. Tunnel 1, spanning 980 meters, and Tunnel 2, extending over 1,555 meters, promise seamless all-weather connectivity for the locals, particularly benefitting the residents of Tawang. PM Modi emphasized the transformative impact of the tunnel in facilitating easier transportation and expanding tourism avenues in the region.
UNNATI – 2024
PM Modi unveiled the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme, 2024 (UNNATI – 2024), signaling a strategic move towards bolstering industrial expansion in the Northeast. With a substantial financial outlay of Rs 10,037 crore over a decade, this flagship project aims to attract investment and generate employment opportunities, particularly focusing on burgeoning sectors like startups, technology, tourism, and manufacturing.

In his address, PM Modi reiterated his unwavering commitment to the development of the Northeast, emphasizing the transformative initiatives undertaken by his government. He underscored the contrast between the neglect faced by the region under previous Congress administrations and the proactive approach adopted by the current government. Accusing the Congress of prioritizing political gains over developmental needs, PM Modi affirmed his dedication to addressing the region’s long-standing infrastructural deficits.

Besides the landmark projects in Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various developmental initiatives spanning Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
