MP News: A fire outbreak occurred in the multi-storey building of the Madhya Pradesh state secretariat in Bhopal on Saturday morning. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident. The fire was first noticed by sanitation workers around 9:30 am, who promptly informed the fire brigade.

Efforts by the firefighters have successfully brought the blaze under control, as confirmed by Bhopal Municipal Corporation’s Fire Officer Rameshwar Neel. However, smoke continues to billow from the third floor, which is known to store important documents, indicating potential damage to vital records.

To tackle the emergency, approximately 40 fire tenders were deployed, with challenges in reaching higher floors being reported. Only one fire tender managed to extend its hose to the fifth floor, highlighting the difficulties faced in the firefighting efforts.
In response to the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has ordered a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire. The building, known as Vallabh Bhavan 1 or the old secretariat, was the site of the chief minister’s and other ministers’ offices until 2019 before they were moved to the new Vallabh Bhawan. The fifth floor, where the fire broke out, was primarily used for storing old documents. Officials are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
