Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a congress politician, has expressed grave concerns over alleged irregularities in the NEET medical entrance test and demanded a comprehensive probe into the grievances raised by students. Many NEET applicants have claimed phoney results; one such case included 67 applicants receiving high marks, six of whom came from the same test centre. Gandhi underlined that in order to rebuild confidence in the testing procedure, the students’ “legitimate complaints” must be addressed, even if the National Testing Agency (NTA) refuted these claims.
Allegations of Inflated Scores and Exam Center Irregularities
Concerns have been expressed by a number of students over this year’s NEET exam’s abnormally high scores. According to reports, 67 individuals achieved the highest ranking—a first for the field. Six of these highest scorers were from the same exam centre, which raised questions about possible inconsistencies. In a post on X, Gandhi outlined these worries, casting doubt on the validity of the findings and requesting a thorough investigation by the authorities.
NTA’s Response and Justifications
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam, has refuted claims of anomalies. They ascribe the improved results to modifications made to the NCERT textbooks and the allowance of grace marks for time lost at testing centres. Students and their families are still expressing outrage in spite of these explanations, with many calling for a more open and exhaustive probe.
Priyanka Gandhi’s Call for Action
Gandhi emphasised the psychological toll on students in her remarks, bringing up suicide stories that followed the release of the NEET results. She emphasised the need for immediate government action while expressing her profound shock and regret over these tragedies. Gandhi questioned why the government isn’t listening to the thousands of students who want their complaints addressed and their issues resolved.
Need for an Investigation
Priyanka Gandhi is sure that the government should handle the issues raised by the students. She said, “Why is the government ignoring the voice of lakhs of students? Students want answers to legitimate questions related to the rigging in the NEET exam results. Is it not the government’s responsibility to investigate and resolve these legitimate complaints?”
