Thousands of fans in Maximum City descended into the streets to watch the victorious team raise the trophy high over the bus before making their way to the Wankhede stadium for the award ceremony.

Mumbai’s beautiful Marine Drive became a hive of activity as supporters dressed in blue flocked to the streets in anticipation of the festivities. Despite the excitement, there was a brief moment of humanity amid the mayhem as the mass of people parted to allow an ambulance to pass.
With a 7-run victory over debutant finalists South Africa at the Kensington Oval on Saturday, India secured the trophy. Virat Kohli’s 76-run innings helped India amass 176 runs for the loss of seven wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah‘s magical bowling reduced the Proteas to 169 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
India’s First ICC Title in Over a Decade
After the victory, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, along with star batsmen Rohit and Kohli, who have contributed greatly to the country during their lengthy and distinguished careers, made the decision to put up their boots in the game’s shortest format. India won their second ICC title in the game’s shortest format and became the first side to win the T20WC without losing a match.
After winning the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, India went more than ten years without winning a trophy; the triumph also ended their 11-year title drought.
