IND Vs SRI: Matheesha Pathirana just increased his stocks for the upcoming IPL season after a sensational performance. CSK will likely retain him. But if by some bizarre incident the ‘Whistle Podu’ army does not do that, Pathirana will be on the lookout for every single team in the tournament.
In a match where every Sri Lankan bowler was being smashed for boundaries, he was the standout. He was not only cheap but also delivered such perfect yorkers on a wet outfield, that it is just outrageous.
It was a brilliant spell that completely broke down the middle and lower order of the Men In Blues. At one point, the Indian team was all set for a 250-run mark, but Pathirana completely blocked their lower order.
The Pathirana Special
Pathirana first took down the skipper Surya Kumar Yadav who was on a tear. But his masterpiece came against Hardik Pandya who was left completely speechless by a pitch-perfect yorker.
A 151-kmph inswinging yorker shattered down the stumps of Hardik Pandya as the former Vice Captain had no answers. Pathirana did not stop there as he further took down Riyan Parag and Rishabh Pant.
The wicket of Rishabh Pant was also beautiful as the wicketkeeper completely missed the slower one. An off-balance Pant was only able to see his bails flying in the air resulting in Pathirana’s signature celebration.
IND Vs SRI: Intense Chase Ahead
It is a flat wicket with nothing for the spinners and even though the Indian team has set a massive target, it will be a good chase. If the Lankans somehow construct a few decent partnerships, they can chase this target down.
