Virat Kohli had an underwhelming series against Sri Lanka and finished his ODI journey of 2024 on a low. With the Champions Trophy just around the corner and in Asia, fans were worried about his performances.
Moreover, except skipper Rohit Sharma, no one was able to perform with the bat for India. It was a low-scoring series, but the Indian team failed to cross the 200-run mark twice.
The fans are agitated about Kohli and his weakness against spin as the Champions Trophy will also be played on similar wickets. But former Indian and RCB keeper Dinesh Kartike came forward and stated that there was nothing to worry about.
‘Virat Kohli Is Fine’
Dinesh Kartik made it clear that he is not defending Kohli but is stating general facts. He further stated that there is nothing to worry about regarding his form.
Former RCB keeper stated “It’s been a tough pitch to play spin in this series, let’s admit that first. Be it Virat Kohli, be it Rohit Sharma, or be it anyone else. With the slightly semi-new ball between overs about 8 to 30, it’s been hard work. It’s nothing to worry about.
Not too many pitches work that way, but it’s been a tough pitch to play spinners. I’m not going to defend Virat Kohli here, but I can tell you that playing spin was very hard.”
Positives Against Sri Lanka
Kartik also addressed the positives in the series for India. India might have lost the series against Sri Lanka but according to Kartik, some positives came out of it. He was impressed by Rohit Sharma’s batting and how easy he made it look.
He stated “The biggest positive is the fact that Indian played all-rounder and bravely attacked. So that is something I like, that is one. Number two, Riyan Parag, in his limited opportunities, is showing what he can do with the ball. Which is again a small plus for us.”
