Elon Musk, the founder of X, and former President Donald Trump’s much awaited interview encountered a snag as technological issues grabbed front stage. An overwhelming number of X users were ready to join Trump’s “Space” for the much anticipated discussion, which was scheduled to cover the 2024 election. Their enthusiasm, though, was short-lived when the ‘Space’ crashed and the dreaded notice “This Space is unavailable” appeared.
Musk Claims Massive DDOS Attack on X
As users scrambled to join, Elon Musk promptly addressed the issue, taking to X to inform everyone, “There appears to be a massive DDOS [distributed denial-of-service] attack on X. Working on shutting it down. Worst case, we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later.” Despite the technical hiccups, the interview managed to get underway after a delay of around 40 minutes, with at least 1 million users tuning in when the conversation resumed.
Trump’s Bold Statements and Reflections
As soon as the interview resumed, Trump did not hesitate to make bold statements. “I beat Biden so badly in the debate that he was forced out of the race—one of the greatest debate performances ever,” he said, calling Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential contest nothing less than a “coup.” In addition, Trump talked about a previous attempt at assassination, calling it a “surreal” encounter but stressing that he was aware it was a bullet right away.
Trump’s Return to X and Musk’s Offer to Kamala Harris
Prior to the interview, Trump made a noteworthy comeback to X, abandoning Truth Social, his platform, which he had been using for almost a year. He posted a collage of Musk and himself along with the witty comment, “Enjoy!” Meanwhile, Musk in an another tweet stated, “Happy to host Kamala on an X Spaces too,” extending an offer to Vice President Kamala Harris.
This interview, despite its technical challenges, saw Trump’s X handle garner over 200 million impressions, reflecting the significant attention it attracted.
