Independence Day 2024: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami marked the 78th Independence Day by announcing a series of ambitious initiatives aimed at fostering development and improving the quality of life for the state’s residents. Speaking at the main function organized in Dehradun, CM Dhami outlined key measures across various sectors, including agriculture, social welfare, self-employment, and veterinary services.
Development of Model Local Bodies
In an effort to enhance governance and civic services, the Chief Minister announced that one local body in each district would be developed as a model body. This initiative aims to set standards in public service delivery and create a benchmark for other local bodies to follow.
Honoring Outstanding Farmers
To recognize and encourage excellence in agriculture, horticulture, and related fields, the state government will honor farmers who have demonstrated exceptional work. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to boost the agricultural sector and support farmers’ livelihoods.
Employee Personal Loan Scheme
A new Employee Personal Loan Scheme will be implemented for regular employees belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Divyang (persons with disabilities), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). This scheme is designed to provide financial assistance and support to employees from these communities.
Increase in Pension Scheme Amounts
Chief Minister Dhami announced a significant increase in the amounts given under various pension schemes. The Old Age Pension Scheme, Widow Pension Scheme, Divyang Pension Scheme, Grant Scheme to Children with Disabilities from Birth, and Pratyakta Pension Scheme will see an increase from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000. This increase aims to provide better financial support to beneficiaries and improve their quality of life.
Skill Development for Self-Employment
To connect the youth with self-employment opportunities, the subject matter of training under the Skill Development Scheme will be determined by the District Skill Development Committee in accordance with local requirements. This approach ensures that the training provided is relevant and tailored to the specific needs of each district.
Policy for Senior Citizens’ Welfare
The Uttarakhand government will formulate a comprehensive policy for the overall welfare of senior citizens. This policy will address the various needs and challenges faced by the elderly population and provide them with necessary support and services.
Chief Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana
In an effort to curb migration from the hilly areas of the state, a Rs 200 crore scheme will be launched under the Chief Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana. This scheme aims to promote fish production in the fisheries sector and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.
Model Veterinary Hospitals
To provide modern medical facilities to animal keepers, the state government will construct one model veterinary hospital in each district at a cost of Rs 75 crores. This initiative will benefit approximately 11 lakh animal keepers by ensuring access to high-quality veterinary care and services.
