PM Modi Ukraine Visit: In a recent visit to Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on India to actively support Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia, urging the country to move beyond a neutral stance. Following a series of discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Zelenskyy emphasized the significant influence India holds and its potential role in countering Russian aggression.
Zelenskyy Urges India to Support Ukraine Against Russia, Proposes Technological Cooperation
Zelenskyy’s visit resulted in the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between India and Ukraine. He expressed Ukraine’s readiness to share its technology with India and highlighted the potential for mutual benefit. The Ukrainian President also indicated his desire to visit India soon and engage directly with the Indian populace.
In an interview with news agency ANI, Zelenskyy framed the conflict as a war instigated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting that India’s involvement could help halt Putin’s actions and impact his economy. He criticized Putin for showing a lack of respect towards Prime Minister Modi and for not seeking peace, citing recent attacks on Ukrainian civilians as evidence of this disrespect.
Additionally, Zelenskyy expressed Ukraine’s interest in increasing economic cooperation with India. He proposed opening avenues for joint ventures and the exchange of goods and technology, underscoring Ukraine’s willingness to explore various forms of collaboration.
This call for support and collaboration underscores the growing diplomatic engagement between Ukraine and India amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
