Uttarakhand News: Uttarakhand is set to take strict action against rioters as the Compensation Law has been enacted following approval from the Governor. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has termed this law a significant step for the welfare of the public, ensuring that no leniency will be shown to those involved in violent activities. The law aims to take strong action against rioters, helping to maintain peace and law and order in the state.
CM Dhami on the Implementation of the Law
Speaking about the implementation of the law, CM Dhami emphasized that it would rein in miscreants and ensure they are held accountable for their actions. He stated, “Anyone causing disturbances will no longer be able to escape easily. Those who harm the peace and security of the state will face strict punishment and be required to compensate for the damages.” Under this law, individuals or groups involved in violence, vandalism, or damage to public property will be held responsible and made to pay for the losses incurred.
Key Provisions of the Compensation Law
The Compensation Law not only imposes fines on those who damage public property, but also requires them to fully compensate for the losses. Additionally, the law includes a provision to seize the property of individuals responsible for causing damage to public assets. Its primary goal is to prevent incidents of violence and vandalism while ensuring strict action against offenders. Public property, as defined under the law, includes government buildings, vehicles, roads, power and water lines, and other essential infrastructure.
Purpose of the Law
The Chief Minister clarified that the law has been enacted for the safety and welfare of the people of Uttarakhand. He reiterated that maintaining peace and security in the state is the government’s top priority, and any form of violence or vandalism will not be tolerated. This law will safeguard the rights of citizens and ensure that strict action is taken against those who disrupt law and order.
Strict Punishments for Rioters
CM Dhami emphasized that the law is essential for the public’s well-being and the state’s security. The government is fully committed to enforcing this law to prevent future disturbances in the state. It will play a critical role in maintaining peace and order, delivering strict punishments to those who engage in disruptive activities, and deterring them from such acts in the future.
Opposition’s Response to the Law
While the government has presented the Compensation Law as a necessary step to maintain law and order, the opposition has expressed some concerns, fearing potential misuse of the law. They argue that the rights of the general public should be safeguarded during its implementation. However, the government has assured that the law is not meant to infringe upon anyone’s rights but rather to protect the state’s property and peace. It aims to ensure strict action against rioters and aid in maintaining law and order across Uttarakhand.
