Rahul Gandhi on Kangana Ranaut: In response to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s controversial remarks about reintroducing the repealed farm laws, Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal have voiced their strong opposition. Both leaders expressed concern over the BJP’s stance on farmers, reigniting the political debate around the farm laws.
Rahul Gandhi Criticises Kangana Ranaut and BJP
Rahul Gandhi did not hold back in his criticism, directly questioning who is truly influencing the government’s decisions. In response to Kangana Ranaut’s remarks, Gandhi said, “Sarkar ki niti kaun tay kar raha hai? Ek BJP MP ya Pradhan Mantri Modi? 700 se zyada kisano, khaas kar Haryana aur Punjab ke kisano ki shahadat le kar bhi BJP walon ka mann nahi bhara.”
Gandhi also issued a stern warning that if any harm comes to the farmers again, Prime Minister Modi would be forced to apologize. He said, “INDIA hamare annadataon ke virudh BJP ka koi bhi shadyantra kaamyab nahi hone dega – agar kisano ko nuksaan pahunchane ke liye koi bhi kadam uthaya jaayega toh Modi ji ko phir se maafi maangni padegi.”
Arvind Kejriwal Cautions Against BJP’s ‘True Intentions‘
Delhi’s former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, was quick to criticise Kangana Ranaut’s statement. Arvind Kejriwal stated, “I want to give a warning. When the farmer’s agitation was going on, members of your family reached the Delhi border. I served you for 13 months, I sent food and Jal Board tankers. Finally, when PM Modi thought that he would lose the elections, he withdrew the three laws. But now their intentions are maligned. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said that the three farm laws should be implemented again. Today, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the people sitting at the Shambhu border were ‘Nakli Kisan’ (fake farmers). Press such a button this time that Khattar Sahab feels that he is a ‘Nakli Khattar’, not a real Khattar.”
Kangana Ranaut Calls for Reintroduction of Farm Laws
The controversy began when Kangana Ranaut, a sitting BJP MP, made remarks calling for the reimplementation of the three farm laws, which were repealed by the Narendra Modi government in November 2021 after a prolonged farmers’ protest. The laws had faced massive opposition, especially from farmers in Punjab and Haryana, and the protests had continued for over a year.
Ranaut suggested that farmers themselves should demand the reintroduction of the farm laws, claiming they were beneficial. However, her remarks immediately faced backlash, not just from opposition parties but even from the BJP’s ally, forcing Kangana Ranaut to withdraw her statement and clarify that it was her personal opinion, not the party’s.
