Punjab News: Following the notification from the State Election Commission, Punjab, for the general elections to gram panchayats 2024, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (DEO) Aashika Jain announced that the Mohali administration is fully prepared to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections across the district.
Nomination Process and Election Timeline Announced
The DEO outlined the timeline for the elections, stating that the nomination process for the 332 gram panchayats in Mohali district will begin on September 27. Candidates can file their nominations between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. However, no nominations will be accepted on September 28 due to a public holiday. The last date for filing nomination papers is October 4, followed by the scrutiny of nominations on October 5. The final date for withdrawal of candidatures is set for October 7 by 3:00 PM.
Polling and Counting on October 15
Voting for the gram panchayats is scheduled for October 15, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with counting to take place on the same day.
For the smooth conduct of the elections, 422 polling booths have been established in four blocks of the district. All booths will be equipped with the required assured minimum facilities to ensure a convenient voting experience for the public.
With these preparations, the Mohali administration is ready to facilitate a transparent and efficient election process.
