Zakir Naik Viral Video: Controversial Islamic Scholar Zakir Naik, who is as known for his radical views as for spreading ill-will, once again finds himself in the news while currently on a visit to Pakistan. Zakir Naik in Pakistan was seen holding crowds at bay in major cities and responding to public questions on Islam, though recent incidents seem to reflect that he falters when cornered by difficult inquiries. In one Zakir Naik Viral Video:, a brave Pakistani girl left Naik visibly uncomfortable after questioning him on certain sensitive issues in society.
Question from Pashtun Girl Sparks Controversy
Palosha a Pashtun girl who appeared in one of Naik’s programmes asked him why drug addiction and child sexual abuse or Pedophile were so rampant in Islamic societies despite clear prohibitions in Islam. She told him that drug abuse and sexual abuse by adults were rife in her community, where women strictly adhered to religious norms and were thus immersed in those teachings.
The question sparked in Palosha struck a chord in Naik. Instead of answering the query raised by Palosha directly, he insulted the very basis of the question asked by her, stating that there was a contradiction in what she was saying. He said, ” You say that women do not go out of their homes without any need. I say that men should also not go out without any need. You said that your society is Islamic and there is sexual exploitation in your society, then this is a contradiction. There can be no child sexual abuse in an Islamic environment.” He said either her claim of living in an Islamic society was flawed, or what she described were exaggerated incidents. This Zakir Naik Viral Video has been posted on Twitter by frontalforce.
Previous Backlash Over Treatment of Women
As Naik visibly was losing his patience, he brushed the question aside. “Tell me which Islamic book supports child sexual abuse,” Naik retorted, dismissing the girl’s concerns. His inability to develop a rich dialogue around the concrete issue highlighted his discomfort in handling sensitive societal issues candidly.
This was not the first incident during Zakir Naik visit to Pakistan in which he was pilloried for his interactions with women. Earlier, in Islamabad, he refused the awarding of the trophy to female students as they should not appear in public without a veil. The move outraged many Pakistanis.
Once again Naik’s moment of going viral when he loses his cool due to stringent questioning brings forth debates on the controversial presence of Zakir Naik in Pakistan and the inability to deal with serious social issues revolving in various Islamic communities.
