Amit Shah on Asaduddin Owaisi attack: On the attack on Asaduddin Owaisi’s convoy, Home Minister Amit Shah gave a statement on behalf of the ministry in Rajya Sabha on Monday. He said that neither Owaisi had any program in Hapur nor was the administration informed about his departure from that route. In the end, Amit Shah said that he requests Owaisi to take the security given by the government.
Speaking on the attack on Owaisi, Shah said that on February 3, 2022, at 5.30 pm, the MP was returning from public relations. Then 2 unidentified persons fired at his car. The incident was witnessed by three witnesses. An FIR has also been registered in Pilkhuwa regarding the incident. It is being discussed.
Shah said that taking prompt action in the matter, two accused were arrested, two unauthorized pistols and an Alto car were recovered from them. The forensic team is conducting a thorough investigation of the car and the crime scene and is collecting evidence.
Owaisi has refused to take security. I would like to request Owaisi through the house that he should take protection with immediate effect and address the concerns of all of us.
In his address, Shah further said that he (Owaisi) did not have any program in Hapur, nor did the district control room have any information to go through this route. Owaisi reached Delhi safely. At present, both the accused are being interrogated. Owaisi was told to provide security. Threat Assessed Z category protection is given. In which bullet proof car and CRPF personnel are included. But verbally he has refused to take protection.
Shah said that on several occasions in the past, after the assessment of central security agencies, the central government has issued instructions to provide security to Owaisi. But Owaisi has denied this. Because of this, the efforts of Delhi Police and Telangana Police to provide security to them did not succeed.

When Asaduddin Owaisi was returning from Meerut after a public meeting, his car was attacked at Hapur toll plaza. In this, 3-4 bullets were fired, whose marks on the car were shown by Owaisi himself by tweeting. The CCTV footage of the attack had also surfaced. Later two accused were arrested by Pilkhuwa police.
Owaisi had refused to take security
After the incident of firing on the car, the central government had talked about giving Z category security to Asaduddin Owaisi, but Owaisi had refused to take security. However, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had spoken of writing a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah. He had said that in the letter he would demand to have a bullet proof vehicle at his own expense. Owaisi has a license to own a weapon and on the basis of that license, Glock will seek permission to keep arms as well.
Both the youths who attacked Owaisi’s car are already in the custody of the police. The first attacker was hit and dropped by the driver of Owaisi’s car, who was arrested by the police after reaching the spot. On the other hand, the second accused surrendered after reaching a police station in Ghaziabad. Both the accused have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Both have been identified as Shubham and Sachin.
